About The Author

Dr. Norman Leonard is a conservation biologist and college instructor living in Athens, GA, USA.  He holds a doctorate in Conservation Biology from the University of New Orleans, and earned his bachelor of science in Ecology from The University of Georgia.  His primary areas of study are wetland ecology, amphibian ecology and conservation, invasive species ecology, the ecology of temporary ponds, aquatic ecology (entomology, water chemistry, and benthic vertebrates), and plant-animal interactions.  He also dabbles in ecotoxicology and fire ecology whenever the opportunity comes up.

When not at work in the classroom, Dr. Leonard spends his time improving his skills as a nature photographer, training for races (5 and 10K), gardening, and backpacking.  He is also about to try his hand at home brewing beer and learning to play the guitar.
